Saving your own seeds - it’s the next step in garden self-sufficiency! Big Barn Little Farm is hosting a two-part workshop with Master Gardener Kristine Swaren.

Planning for Seed Saving is part 1, Tuesday May 10th, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the farm. We’ll cover the why, what seeds are easiest to save, how to plan for their space in the garden, and how to keep good records about your seeds.

How to Save Seed is part 2, to be held in late August, date to be confirmed. This workshop will include hands-on how-to harvest, clean, store and label your seeds, and how to determine viability.

Cost per workshop: $30

Location: The Big Red Barn at 717 Meadow Green rd.

Workshop is located in an unheated barn and if the weather allows, we will be outside as so dress accordingly.

A few copies of the handbook How to Save Your Own Seeds will be available at the first workshop for $15, or can be ordered at https://seeds.ca/books/
